So these are my notes from the programming session. I was thinking about deleting them, but then.. I couldn’t really describe my experience. As someone who did A level maths I consider myself alright at it but this was like a whole different ball game and I came out of the session with a freshly fried brain. I enjoyed it a lot though, it was something I had never done and never even thought to have done. Don’t think I’m a natural at it. Also got some screen shots from the session.
A programming language for visual people.
setup – happens at the beginning of the programme, only once.
draw – happens over and over again, may have multiple times in a programme.
background 0 is black. can take 1 value or 3 values (RGB) eg (255, 100, 0)
needs to be lower case – doesn’t understand capital letters – doesn’t recognise it as a command. ends of lines have semi collons
mouseX gives coordinates of mouse
mouseX+” “+mouseY gives coordinates of both axis of mouse
variables – INT(WHOLE NUMBERS), FLOAT(DECIMALS), STRING (TEXT)
if start mixing types may get confused
if set it to d=draw background then circle will look like circle is moving.
can do an ‘else’
== is for checking – dont think that = means equals to when not setting
speed=speed+1 can be written shorthand as speed++
can make loads of different shapes eg rect() makes a rectangle
