Sleep Cycle Diagrams.

Man sleep data is boring. I know it has to be informative and all sciencey, but all the diagrams are very rigid, all very similar with the same layout. I find these bar graphs quite hard to understand as they appeal more to people who already understand the stages. For example, what on earth is N!, N2, N3? I have no idea and I feel like this should be explained on the graph or at least on a key somewhere. Maybe I wouldn’t be so annoyed if it was pretty to look at.

Not many people have strayed away from the classic bar graph as shown above, and that’s probably why it caught my eye. It’s not awe inspiring but it’s still a bit different to normal. I like the way it shows quite clearly the proportion of time you’re awake compared to the time that you’re asleep but also shows clearly defined chunks when you should be entering different sleep cycles. pawses_2013_05_17_sleep_cycle1

I don’t understand this but I love it and I’m not sure why. I don’t really understand the point of the cat, I thought that cats slept most of the time, and I’m not sure the relevance of the cat and the face, but it’s cute! It’s different! I like the drawing style, it reminds me of a doodle.
