So I’ve been struggling to find the kind of data that I want online. To be honest I haven’t looked in the library to see if there’s anything like that in there, so I still need to do that, it’s somewhere on my to do list.. Anyway, so after discussing my options with some people, I was thinking about doing either a survey of how many hours sleep people get and how they feel, what time they normally get up, does their sleep pattern change from the week to the weekend. I was also thinking, as I’m a prime example of insomnia, monitoring my sleeping pattern, possibly using some sleep apps that are available on the app store.
The sleep cycle app is something that I already knew about. A couple of friends have used it and says it works pretty well. It monitors your sleep by your movement, track the sleep cycle, and if you have naps it monitors it so your sleep for one cycle and wake up so as not to wake up in the middle of a cycle and feel awful. So I’ve bought it! And I’m going to monitor my sleeping pattern and see what happens to I can use my data. To get some more results I think I’ll use my mates results as well to compare and get a wide range of results of different kind of patterns. If I combine this with a survey I think I’ll get a good set of data.
There’s quite a few sleep apps on the app store. Some claim to do strange things and perform miracles. For example one of the screen shots above claims to help you lose weight, prevent
insomnia and help you stop smoking. Amazing right? Why isn’t everyone using this? It’s free as well! So I’m trying that too. Mainly because I’m intrigued, I’m almost sure it won’t prevent and cure my insomnia of 4 or 5 years.
